How To Be Saved

How To Be Saved

The ABC's Of Salvation

A person cannot be "saved" until they know they are lost. Many people feel they are alright, because they are relatively a good person, but the Bible says that we are not good on our own.

"As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;" Romans 3:10

This means no one does right 100% of the time. Well, God is 100% holy, and demands 100% holiness. Not even one little "bobble" can be overlooked, or God becomes unholy. He will not go against His own standard.

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," Romans 3:23

"All have sinned", which means we have "missed the Mark". What is the "Mark"? Well it tells us it is "the glory of God"! When you sin, you are falling short of God's glory. The only person to never sin was Jesus Christ. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21, "The Lord made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God, through Him (Jesus)."

So the first step towards Salvation is to ADMIT YOUR CONDITION: YOU ARE A SINNER.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

This verse makes us AWARE OF THE CONSEQUENCE of being a sinner. That consequence is DEATH! You see a "wage" is something earned. One works for a paycheck; they earn it. What one earns by being a sinner is death! But the second part of this verse is a bright light at the end of a dark tunnel: "But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." The "gift", unlike the wage, is not something earned. That gift is "eternal life", not death.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16

This verse introduces us to the need to BELIEVE IN THE COMPASSION of God. Since Jesus, the Son, is God the Father's "gift" to the world the question arises, "Why does God give us a gift, especially one of such magnitude. After all, this "gift" is the finest ever given and the most enduring, since it is eternal?"

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

The reason God gave us the most precious "gift" of His Son is, because He loves us! God loves us, in spite of our sinful condition. We must have atonement, or a covering that takes the guilt away. Then we will be accepted by God. 1 John 4:9-10 states, "This is how God showed His love among us; He sent His one and only Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." So we must ADMIT OUR CONDITION, be AWARE OF THE CONSEQUENCE, BELIEVE IN THE COMPASSION of God, and then COMMIT OUR CONTROL.

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9-10

The Lordship of Christ is essential to one's salvation. We must be willing to COMMIT OUR CONTROL to Him. Before Jesus can be Savior, He must be Lord! "Confess" carries the idea of sorrow, or repentance, which means to "turn from sin". Do you believe that God raised Jesus from the dead? Are you willing to confess Him with your mouth, by asking Him to come into your heart today?

"for,"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Romans 10:13

Then DECIDE TO CALL on Jesus by personally asking Him to save you. You can pray a simple pray right now and ask Him to save you.

Did you confess your sin, and invite Jesus into your heart? As 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins," Then "God is faithful to forgive our sins".

Place your faith in the fact of God's Word, rather than in any feeling you may feel.
